About Us
The Southern California Chapter is a multiprofessional organization composed of critical care practitioners whose purpose is to foster collaboration among caregivers at the regional state level for the enhancement of patient care. Members of the chapter include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals.
Mission
The Southern California Chapter's mission is to provide its members with educational opportunities, professional resources and a chance for networking with other critical care professionals from the southern part of the state to ensure the delivery of the highest quality of care to our communities.
History
October 14, 2016. An organizational dinner meeting was held at Cedars Sinai Medical Center attended by 24 critical care practitioners, representing physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and pharmacists. Multi-disciplinary representatives from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Keck Medicine of USC, LAC+USC Medical Center, Riverside University Health System, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital were present.
Collaborative themes were identified to promote projects and initiatives: Quality care and patient safety shared experience and lessons learned, data sharing, community outreach, and training and continuing education.
To advance the work of the Collaborative, the attendees recommended that the Officers meeting monthly by teleconference and that the members meet face-to-face at quarterly dinner meetings.
The Southern California Critical Care Collaborative, Inc. files its Articles of Incorporation with the Secretary of State, State of California (January 4, 2017)
The SoCal Critical Care Collaborative, Inc. becomes a not-for-profit 501c3 organization in the State of California (January 25, 2017)
The Collaborative’s Officers establish a Wells-Fargo bank account on behalf of the membership.
The SoCal Critical Care Collaborative, Inc. submits an application to create a Southern California Chapter to the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Council (April 25, 2017).
SCCM Council approves the SoCal Critical Care Collaborative’s application and thereby creates the Southern California Chapter of the Society (June 2017).
