February 2024 Education Committee Notes

The first Education Committee meeting of 2024 took place via Zoom on February 26th, 2024. Several new members were present: introduce Jignesh Patel as the new Education Committee Chair and Cassia Yi, President-elect. New providers who joined and expressed interests in chapter involvement included Jeff Chen, Paul Wong, Olena Svetlov, Rakesh Gupta, and Krupa Bhatt. The Chapter welcomed all new and returning members and look forward to everyone's involvement with this Committee. The committee members discussed planning for the upcoming webinar on March 12, 2024, via Zoom, on: "Updates on ARDS", presented by Dr. Mazen Odish. This activity is planned to approve 1 continuing education credit for physicians, pharmacists, NP/RN/PA and other licensed healthcare team members. Flyers and marketing materials for this event are posted on the SCCM SoCal website. The committee also discussed planning for the 2nd Annual SCCM SoCal Symposium, to take place in October 2024, in Irvine. For this event, tentative agenda reviewed, some speakers have been confirmed, other topics and speakers still being recruited. The overall theme of this symposium will center around the utilization of big data and technology in the care of critically ill patients. The goal is to have an interactive symposium with single and panel speakers, abstract presentation, and social networking. The next Education Committee meeting will be on April 22, 2024, from 2pm-3pm.
